7 DAYS IN HELL - una partita infinita

Presentato al Comic-Con di San Diego, 7 Days in Hell racconta il match più lungo della storia di Wimbledon che vede l'epica sfida tra due agguerriti rivali, l’americano Aaron Williams e l’inglese Charles Poole. Il primo, interpretato da Andy Samberg, è un bad boy che ricorda da vicino Andrè Agassi, il secondo, interpretato da Kit Harington (ormai noto in tutto il mondo come John Snow), è un giovane talento sotto una pressione enorme perché potrebbe essere il primo britannico a vincere il più nobile degli Slam dal 1930. Ma c'è anche il cuore in mezzo alla vicendca, perché oltre alla sfida sportiva, in palio c'è anche l'amore di una bellissima modella.

Il Corriere dello Sport ci racconta che nella realtà il match più lungo della storia del tennis fu disputato proprio a Wimbledon in tempi relativamente recenti. Siamo nel 2010 quando nel primo turno della competizione si affrontano l'americano John Isner e il francese Nicolas Mahut. La sfida si protrae per tre giorni, dal 22 al 24 giugno, e dura 11 ore e 5 minuti. Una maratona infinita che entra di diritto nel Guinness dei primati come l'incontro professionistico più lungo della storia sia per numero di game giocati che per tempo effettivo di gioco. Per la cronaca, a vincere alla fine sarà Isner con il punteggio finale di 6–4, 3–6, 6–7, 7–6, 70–68. Il film è stato trasmesso dal canale HBO l'11 di luglio, in occasione della finale del torneo di Wimbledon.
